Can you lose that mommy stomach with safflower oil?
According to a recent study, this fat is meant to help people lose fat. but exactly how does this work?
Researchers studied the effects of taking conjugated linoleic acid (CLA, an agent promoted for weight loss) and safflower oil over two 16-week periods. The study concluded that people who took safflower oil experienced a significant loss of abdominal fat compared with those using CLA. only 55 people participated in the study all of whom were postmenopausal women with type II diabetes. 20 of the participants dropped out of the study. We still don’t know for sure how safflower oil will effect younger women. This study only compared safflower oil to CLA, , an agent that has been reported to increase insulin resistance.
If you are young and still of child bearing age must you use safflower oil to help lose your mommy belly?
I believe that a lot more research still needs to be done on safflower oil and weight loss before young mothers add this to their nutritional supplements. If you have unwanted stomach fat and have tried many diets and fitness programs a CLA supplement will help you lose those unwanted inches from your waist.
Dr. Michael Pariza, who conducted research on CLA with the university of Wisconsin-Madison, reported in August 2000 to the American Chemical society that “It doesn’t make a big fat cell get little. What it rather does is keep a little fat cell from getting big.”
Trials have shown CLA to help build muscles, minimize body fat, while protecting against arterial disorders and a host of aging-related diseases. CLA pushes glucose (blood sugar) into muscle and connective tissue cells instead of letting it turn into body fat. CLA also reduces protein degradation (catabolic metabolism) that occurs with advancing age. It can help develop a better-looking as well as healthier body.

Also, consider what type of fats are included in your diet. A diet rich in Omega-6 fatty acids found in vegetable oils and Omega-3 fatty acids found in cold water fish are essential to our health. Make sure you cook with vegetable oils like canola, extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil and eat 2-3 servings of wild fish a week. Wild Alaskan Salmon is not only delicious but it consists of the healthy Omega-3 fatty acids that our bodies need.
More studies on safflower oil need to be conducted before I can conclude that it does help with weight loss. For the time being enjoy what you eat, take supplements that are backed up by trustworthy research and are proven to help with weight loss, and participate in at least 10 minutes of physical activity per day.
